# Cart page

> The full-page cart template — line items, quantity editing, order summary and checkout handoff.

# Cart page

The Cart page template renders the same cart logic as the drawer, on a full page. Some
markets and some product categories — large furniture, high-value items, wholesale —
work better with a full-page cart.

Cart page with line items and order summary

***

## When to use it

| Situation | Recommendation |
| - | - |
| Most stores | Keep the drawer. It is faster and keeps the shopper in context. |
| High-value products | Consider a full-page cart for reassurance. |
| Wholesale / B2B with quantity lists | Use the cart page — long line lists are hard to read in a drawer. |
| Markets with a native checkout flow | Either works. The drawer hands off to the same checkout. |

> [!NOTE]
>
> The drawer and the cart page share the same JavaScript and the same line-item
> component. A shopper can add to the cart in the drawer, then click "view cart" and
> see the same state — nothing is duplicated or lost.

***

## What it renders

| Element | Notes |
| - | - |
| Line items | Image, title, variant, price, quantity stepper, remove |
| Price summary | Subtotal, discounts, shipping, taxes, total |
| Discount field | Applies a cart-level discount code |
| Free shipping bar | Same threshold logic as the drawer |
| Checkout button | Hands off to Shopify's checkout |
| Empty state | With a link back to the shop |

## Tips

> **Keep the discount field visible**
>
> Merchants often hide it to reduce visual clutter. On a cart page it is expected,
> and discount codes are frequently already in the shopper's clipboard from an email
> or a retargeting ad.

> **Do not customise the checkout**
>
> Shopify's checkout is not editable. Everything you can influence — cart contents, discount codes, shipping thresholds — has to happen before the handoff.

> **The order summary should be sticky on desktop**
>
> On a cart page with many line items, a sticky summary column means the total is
> always visible. It is a small detail that measurably reduces abandonment.
